"Talk Story" is a
tradition of sharing stories and experiences. It means much more than
exchanging daily greetings and messages with people; it is a celebration of
cultural heritage. Talk story represents social interaction, a cultural custom
of oral storytelling - a way to share history and tradition with family,
extended family and communities. It may be known by different names in many
countries and cultures, but the tradition is common through my diverse
heritage. It is the means of oral tradition by which elders and knowledgeable
individuals circulated history and lineage information among people in family
circles and communities. These elders or griots of the community assumed the
responsibility of preserving important history and information.
This blog will achieve the purpose of "talk story" to communicate stories about family research, stories and experiences.
